November 5 - Saxophonist/Flautist - Dan Cirpiano

Ok, so if you notice, there is no job description listed in front of Dan's name in the show title. There is a very good reason. One of the most sought after Sax players around, Dan has had the fortune to perform with just about everyone...from Sting, Bruce Springstein, Jon Bon Jovi, Wilson Pickette, David Sanborn, and Les Paul, to Stanley Clark, Buster Poindexter, Buddy Miles, and Ms. Cindy Bradley to name just a few.

Dan is like the Charles Grodin of music...you've heard him many times, but, don't know who he is. He loves being in the backgrund, but all of that is about to hopefully change.

Please join me in welcoming Dan to Jazzin Em Up With Cres O'Neal. I'm telling you folks, seriously, Dan is one of the most talented musicians I have had the pleasure of listening to in a long time. He is FIERCE.

So, buckle up...or down...it's gonna be one heck of a ride.

Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune.wrote, "By now, there can be no doubt that pianist-composer Iyer stands among the most daringly original jazz artists of [his] generation."

Iyer's sixteen recordings have covered so much ground at such a high level of acclaim that it is easy to forget that they all belong to the same person. His brand new CD, "Accelerando", is the highly anticipated follow-up to his Grammy-nominated previous release, "Historicity",

Across this diverse output, Iyer's artistic vision remains unmistakable. His powerful, cutting-edge music is firmly grounded in groove and pulse, but also rhythmically intricate and highly interactive; fluidly improvisational, yet uncannily orchestrated; emotionally compelling, as well as innovative in texture, style, and musical form.
