Judy Carmichael is a Grammy nominated pianist, vocalist, composer and one of the world’s leading interpreters of stride and swing piano.  Count Basie nicknamed her “Stride”, acknowledging the command with which she plays this technically and physically demanding jazz piano style.  

Judy has played the major concert halls and festivals around the world and been featured on A Prairie Home Companion (musically and doing comic skits), NPR’s Morning EditionEntertainment TonightCBS' Sunday MorningCNN and numerous shows for the BBC and other international radio and TV programs.  She has written two books on stride piano and her writing is featured regularly in Jazz Times and other jazz periodicals. Her memoir Swinger!  A Jazz Girl’s Adventures From Hollywood To Harlem was published in 2018.
